Notes on WordPress themes
I’m just starting to explore alternative designs for this site, which means getting to grips with catalogues of themes.
At wordpress.org there are just over 500 themes available for download. There are sections on new themes and popular themes. The themes are tagged; although strangely there is no easy way to navigate to it, I have stumbled upon a tag cloud page, which is a good way into selecting potentially suitable themes.
The site is a bit cumbersome in the theme selection area: if you want to go beyond the quite small thumbnails to see the page structure clearly you have to launch a full-blown preview site.
A Google search produces 7.5 million results, with both free and commercial offerings.
I’ve started a link category of magazine themes, for quick access to likely candidates.
